FLCSD 2009 Virginia Garo Keane Scholarship Winner
Camille Lancelot, Frances Parker School
Teacher: Irina Dorfman
Camille Lancelot lives in San Diego, California and attended Francis Parker School. She was an honors student, graduating Cum Laude in the class of 2009. She was the vice president of the French Honor Society at her school and the captain of her rowing team, ZLAC Rowing Club. In addition to French literature and rowing, Camille enjoys piano, sculpture and painting. In the fall she will attend Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she will study Literature, Languages and Biology. |

Emily Heaton, Torrey Pines High School
Teacher: Leonor Youngblood
Emily Heaton first began her Spanish studies in middle school, but it was not until high school that she discovered her passion for foreign languages. In addition to enjoying AP Spanish Language, she regularly attends the Spanish services at her church and is a co-founder of VivaEspan, a Spanish tutoring club at Torrey Pines High School. Emily plans to attend and play soccer at the University of Chicago in the fall, where she will pursue a pre-med major and an Advanced Foreign Language Proficiency Certificate in Spanish. She hopes to use her Spanish skills in her studies abroad and in her future career in medicine.
